For the past 4 years Kamloops Harley-Davidson® and Kamloops EagleRider have partnered with Childline Rocks, a charitable organization that raises funds through live music performances and other shenanigans for a British charity for children. Kamloops EagleRider is the exclusive Harley-Davidson® rental company for this charity and without Kamloops EagleRiders help this ride would not have started 4 years ago.
This spring, if you are in the deep south of the USA, you can expect to see a large group of interesting characters riding Kamloops EagleRider Harley-Davidson® motorcycles from Nashville to New Orleans and up to Clarksdale Mississippi, via the historic Blues Music Trail for 8 days. Much effort has been put forth into this project and if all goes as planned, expect to see this tour turned into a television series that will debut in North America in the near future.
Officially, these riders are dubbed “The Sons of Royalty”, whom includes Special Forces veterans, bestselling authors, rock gods, and wondering minstrels. Please see www.childlinerocks.org.uk to see who might be getting patched for the gang shortly
Supplying the Harley-Davidson® motorcycles, is none other than Al Perrett; owner of Kamloops Harley-Davidson® & Kamloops EagleRider Rentals. He is the president of the “Sons of Royalty Canada” and has recently been nominated for the “Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame”. Being 75 years old, he can also boast about being a multiple time and the oldest winner of the Baja 1000 in the past two decades. Als presence during this ride and his business connection is hugely valued to Childline and “The Sons Of Royalty”.
In the past 3 years this ride has been about building awareness of the “Childline” Charity, riding Harley-Davidson® motorcycles, and getting the “The Sons of Royalty” together for unbelievable journeys in America. Childline Rocks is the only musical volunteer board for two of the UK’s largest children charities, Childline and the NSPCC (National Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Children)
Since this ride consists of extremely talented people, it only makes sense that “The Sons Of Royalty” play as a band once a year during this ride. The characters that have committed are:
Danny Bowes: Front man of the British rock band “Thunder”,
Peter Shoulder: Front man of the British rock band “The Union”. 1 of only 3 Brits ever to win a WC Handy award from the Blues Foundation of America, the other 2 being Peter Green & Eric Clapton,
Papa George: British Blues Legend who has played with Freddy Mercury, John Lord, Iain Paice, Micky Moody and many more,
Susie Webb: Does vocals for The Who, Queen and the Fabba Girls,
Bobby Tench: Guitar and vocals for Streetwalkers, Van Morrison, Humble Pie (for 3 years the biggest band in the world) and the Jeff Beck Group,
Pete Rees: Longest serving bass player for Gary Moore,
Luke Morley: Does guitar and vocals for “Thunder” and “The Union”,
Chris Childs: Guitar player for “Thunder”, “The Union” and the Ultimate Eagles,
Dave Mcluskey: Drums for “The Union”,
Tim Hinkley: Keyboards and vocals for Elkie Brooks, Sonny Boy Williamson & Ben E. King,
Special thanks to Belt Drive Betty for supplying us the information on this great event.

|AMA Pro Racing Announces Future Plans for AMA Pro Road Racing Class Structure and Rules Package|
|DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (December 4, 2013) – Officials from AMA Pro Racing announced today the future plans for the AMA Pro Road Racing class structure and rules package. The changes, which are planned for the 2015 AMA Pro Road Racing season, are being made with the goal of fostering a cost-effective and competitive racing platform for America’s premier motorcycle road racing series.”These long-term, strategic moves have been planned with careful consideration and after many conversations with our motorcycle manufacturers, teams, riders and event promoters,” said Michael Gentry, Chief Operating Officer of AMA Pro Racing. “We feel that these changes will help us elevate the sport of professional motorcycle racing in North America to greater heights.”
AMA Pro Racing will further refine the Series’ tiered performance structure comprised of production-based classes. The performance characteristics of the motorcycles raced in each division will be configured so as to provide appropriate platforms for riders to compete and hone their skills as they climb the ladder to the premier AMA Pro SuperBike division.
AMA Pro SuperBike will be entering its 40th year of competition and will once again be featured as the headlining class for the Series. Following consultation with both World and National Superbike championship governing bodies, incremental changes will be made to the technical rules package over the next two seasons in the interest of rule commonality, performance parity and cost containment.
Equally as important to the class restructuring, the 2014 SuperSport season will be reconfigured as an overall National championship; the class will no longer be separated into East and West divisions. In 2015, a consolidated middleweight category will be established by combining the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike and AMA Pro SuperSport classes.
To complete the progressive class structure in 2015, AMA Pro Racing is investigating the potential of adding an entry-level division showcasing the smaller-displacement machines which are currently in large demand in showrooms across North America. The Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series is planned to enter its sixth season as part of the AMA Pro Road Racing class structure in 2015.
The 2014 AMA Pro Road Racing season will kick off once again at Daytona International Speedway. The event is scheduled for March 13 – 15, 2014 and will have the same three-day format featured in recent years, highlighted by the 73rd running of the DAYTONA 200 on Saturday afternoon. I was speaking to Mike at Corbin yesterday about the new Indian seats and what his customer reaction is to them so far…………..he shared this message from his customer Mike Crowley of Sugar Land, Texas:
I’ve only ridden 110 miles on it but they were all very happy miles! The seat itself fits me great, and is comfortable, and the backrest is super. I’m a happy camper and will definitely let others know. It looks great and ‘enhances’ my beautiful Chieftain, but more importantly it feels great! Thank you and your very good team. That seat will make a lot of rides/trips and I’m sure it will help sell a lot of Corbin seats! Job well done!
I believe it sits me about 1” further back and about 1” higher, and supports me better.
Sugar Land, Texas
Needless to say, Mike loves the seat and Mike loves hearing from another satisfied customer.

Sturgis Buffalo Chip® Announces Return of Award-Winning Student Build Challenge™ with 2014 Street Glide
Sturgis, SD (November 26, 2013) – The Sturgis Buffalo Chip is proud to announce that its ground-breaking Student Build Challenge will return in 2014. The bike build project is a collaboration between the Sturgis Buffalo Chip, Sturgis Brown High School, Black Hills Harley-Davidson®, Terry Components, Dakota V-Twin and a large group of industry-leading parts sponsors. The program provides the opportunity for Sturgis Brown High School students to learn from leading motorcycle industry professionals in order to create a one-of-a-kind custom motorcycle from a stock Harley-Davidson.
For the first time ever, the class will customize a new year model Harley Davidson—the 2014 Street Glide. Most of the custom parts installed on the bike are not yet available to consumers, allowing the build to bring them to market for the very first time. Since the students have the unique opportunity to install the custom parts before other builders, this year’s Student Build Challenge bike may be the first custom 2014 Street Glide in existence.
The Buffalo Chip created the innovative school program in 2010 as a means to promote technical education in South Dakota and provide students with expanded career opportunities in the motorcycle industry. Because the state is home to the world’s largest motorcycle rally, there is a growing number of motorcycle industry businesses that have moved to the Black Hills and are looking for experienced technicians. The Sturgis Buffalo Chip strives to assist in providing local career opportunities for students by creating a hands-on curriculum that teaches youth about motorcycle fabrication and customization.
In 2013, the Student Build Challenge participants proved that they had learned the skills to put them on par with some of the world’s best builders. They took their custom Road Glide to the renowned Donnie Smith Bike Show, where it won first place in the Full Custom Bagger Open Class and Overall Best Display. The students also took first place in the Full Custom Bagger category and won Best Custom Paint Job at the Black Hills Bike Show.
“One of the program’s major goals is to empower young adults to feel like a job in the industry is well within their reach,” says Rod Woodruff, president of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “I can’t think of anything more empowering than when the team takes home prestigious awards and beat out competitors who have been building bikes for years.”
In addition to increasing students’ technical knowledge, the bike build project instills important values and life lessons. Participants learn to work together as a team and see the value in taking a project from concept to completion.
Under the instruction of industry veterans, Keith Terry and Randy and Nick Cramer, Sturgis Brown High School students will learn the state-of-the-art techniques needed to customize the 2014 Street Glide. Black Hills Harley-Davidson has generously sponsored the bike for the project and some of the industry’s top manufacturers provided the world-class parts needed to customize it.
“We are thrilled to again be sponsoring the bike for this year’s Student Build Challenge,” says Terry Rymer, managing partner of Black Hills Harley-Davidson. “We’ve seen firsthand how this project can transform both a bike and a group of students for the better, and I can’t wait to watch this transformation take place again this year.”
The completed Student Build Challenge creation will be auctioned off during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in support of the Buffalo Chip’s annual Legends Ride® charity event on Aug. 4, 2014.

About the 2014 Student Build Challenge™
The Sturgis Buffalo Chip® continues its commitment to education and the growth of South Dakota’s motorcycle industry with its fifth annual Student Build Challenge. The goal is to develop students’ skills and knowledge in a real-world experience they can use after graduation. This year’s Student Build Challenge bike will be auctioned on Aug. 4, 2014 in support of the Buffalo Chip’s Legends Ride® charity event.
