Corbin Introduces Fleetliner Saddlebags for Polaris Slingshot

corbin_72dpi (1)
Corbin Introduces Fleetliner Saddlebags for Polaris Slingshot
Hollister, CA – Corbin’s Fleetliner bags were specifically designed for the Slingshot to emulate the visuals of the bike and integrate perfectly. Notice how the lines and details of the stock bodywork have been incorporated into the design of the bags and they give a more balanced aesthetic. These new Fleetliner bags offer a whopping 104 liters of storage with both bags combined. For those not yet committed to the metric system, that equates to over three and a half cubic feet!

Fleetliner saddlebags are specially engineered for each vehicle so they fit the profile perfectly, like pieces of a puzzle. This enables the bags to carry the weight of the contents closer to the centerline and maintain a good center of gravity. Another benefit of Corbin’s design and mounting system is a smaller overall width for less wind resistance. You won’t even notice they’re back there when riding and they remain stable at all speeds.

Because the Slingshot doesn’t lean in corners, Corbin was able to make these bags larger than their typical Fleetliner bags… approximately 50 liters per side (left saddlebag holds more than the right saddlebag for shock clearance). Since all of the saddlebag capacity runs inboard, you must take care when running a larger tire/wheel combo. The Corbin R&D team left enough clearance for a 305 series tire which is more than you can put on a stock rim. If you go with an aftermarket wheel, be sure the offset is correct so you won’t face a rubbing problem with the tire on the saddlebags.

Fleetliner doors secure with a double latch to assure they won’t pop open accidentally and the latch release is lockable to secure your gear. In addition to the large body area of the bags, Corbin built a pouch into the doors to keep smaller items easily at hand. Doors are made with thermoformed ABS for durability and a clean finish.
Both bags come fully lined to protect your cargo and are fully sealed to guard your valuables in bad weather weather. Installation on the Slingshot is fairly simple and Corbin supplies all required mounting brackets. Saddlebags are constructed of our roto-molded polyurethane material and come to you prepainted. Saddlebag bodies and brackets all come painted in wrinkle black to blend with the Slingshot chassis and lower plastics. Saddlebag doors come color coordinated to your OEM paint.
Included with the saddlebag set is our rear fender / splash guard that is an integral part of the setup. The fender component is a heavy duty ABS material in a mock Carbon-Fiber pattern to give it a sporty look. Corbin’s fender works with the license plate light transferred from you stock fender. The Corbin fender installation is a required component of the saddlebags.

Installation is relatively simple and does not require welding or chassis modification. One of the stock plastic underbody panels will need to be modified during installation. (Drilling and cutting template supplied) All Corbin brackets bolt to stock locations on the Polaris chassis. Hollister and Corbin’s 6th Annual Rider Appreciation Day a Huge Success!

Hollister and Corbin’s 6th Annual Rider Appreciation Day a Huge Success!

Hollister, CA– Friday July 3rd and the day starts with beautiful weather…the kind of weather riders’ dream of. Everything was in place…over a hundred vendors had their displays set up downtown and all over Hollister and 20+ venders were set up on Corbin’s property. Indian Motorcycles had quite an impressive presence in Hollister this year. As the sun started rising up over the horizon, you can hear the gentle rumble of bikes off in the distance getting closer until the town and Corbin’s property was packed. The Hollister Rally and Corbin Open House was well attended and professionally organized. Thousands showed up from all over the country to attend this event as well as Corbin’s 6th Annual Rider Appreciation Day. Many riders arrived Thursday evening, but in 24 short hours, Hollister with a population of 35,437 grew to almost double its size, all sharing the same common interest…motorcycles. Estimated attendance for the rally was over 40,000.  Bikes lined the streets of San Benito for the 3 day rally and there was a constant flow of bike traffic cruising the street.

Many of the more recognized names in the industry were at Corbin’s… Sonny Barger, an American Legend and founding member (1957) of the OaklandCalifornia, U.S. chapter of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club and the original rally visionary, Sonny had copies of his book and movie “Dead in Five Heartbeats” available for purchase and signing. Joining Sonny in the Corbin showroom this year was Phil Cross, author of “Gypsy Joker to A Hells Angel”.

There was plenty to do, hear, eat and see at Corbin’s. There was Nate’s Mobile DJ

Biker Bob’s Widow Receiving an Award

that kept the music rollin’ all weekend long non-stop. There was also live rock and roll music throughout the day which provided a nice touch while strolling around and checking out the products offered from the different venders. Mike’s Grandson Sean made some special guest appearances throughout the weekend playing his composed music Time Aperture.

The Biker Bob Memorial Bike Show in association with the IMBBA was a total success. This was IMBBA’s first time ever judging a bike show in the great state of California. This is good news for builders who until Mike Corbin invited IMBBA to judge their Bike show that let builders know they don’t have to truck their wares to Sturgis or Texas or Arkansas to get fair judging by IMBBA and work towards certification in our trade.

This year Mike named the Bike show after the loss of a dear friend Biker Bob, whose wife Donna was there with his restored bike to raffle it off at the bike show. IMBBA President, Jeff Starke, paid a tribute to Biker Bob by reciting a poem on Freedom as a dedication prior to the Awards ceremony. The first Award was presented by Mike Corbin titled the “Hollister Rally Bike Show award” and given to Donna in memory of her husband “Biker Bob” in appreciation of the contributions made to the Hollister rally for many years.

The show, displayed bikes of variety and customization, Big wheel baggers, theme bikes and one off customs along with choppers and three wheelers. Class Prizes were $450.00 cash and the Best of Show received $600.00 and a Speed-Way Motorsports Shelter – Touring Model Shelter (MSRP $425) http://www.speedwayshelters.com .

Best of Show Winner-Sam Baldi

This year Sam Baldi took “Best of Show” at Corbin’s. Sam is no stranger to the winners circle, he was the winner of the IMBBA National Championship held in Sturgis three years prior with an outstanding custom. IMBBA challenged him to build another and he was to enter it into IMBBA’s World Competition when his Daughter passed away. This along with delays in paint held up its completion. Sam, inspired by this unexpected life changer, to build the bike as a tribute to his daughter, and as such brought it to The Mike Corbin Biker Bob Memorial Bike Show where he knew points could be had for the building of this bike through judging by the IMBBA. Well he not only accomplished his mission and was awarded “Best of Show”, but he also received an invite to attend the IMBBA world Competition Bike show, sponsored by Emirates Bike Festival held this November in Dubai, UAE.

Corbin was running free factory tours throughout the day and offered a 10% event discount and free installation to everyone that attended the rally which caused a traffic jam of bikes getting custom seats tailor made to fit their bikes and bodies. All in all, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and I for one am looking forward to attending Hollister and Corbin for years to come.

Labor Day Weekend Auction at the Springfield Mile

www.amaft79.com

AMA PRO FLAT TRACK ROOKIE CLASS

OF ’79 AND FRIENDS

Labor Day Weekend Auction

at the Springfield Mile

Sunday September 6, 2015, Springfield IL.

For the past two years, the AMA Pro Flat Track Rookie Class of ’79 and Friends have held a live auction over Labor Day Weekend during the running of the Springfield Mile.  In 2015, we are going to do something a little different.  In the past, we’ve had several requests for online bidding for those folks who aren’t able to attend the event.  We have found a website that caters to 501c3 non-profit charities,

www.biddingowl.com .

All of the items available at this year’s auction will only be available during an online/mobile auction which will close on Sunday, Sep 6th, during the running of the Springfield Mile.  Those who are in town for the races will be able to pay for and pick up their items at the fairgrounds.  Winners unable to attend will have their items shipped whether they’re within the US or international (shipping charges will be added to their winning bid).

There are two big ticket items we’ll be offering.  One is “The Ultimate Springer Collection” which consists of a signed 4′ x 6′ banner of Jay during the Clash of the Titans in 2014, the number plate off his bike during the Clash of the Titans 2 at this year’s Sacramento Mile, and the helmet he wore during this exhibition race with Chris Carr.   Our second item is an autographed #11 Scott Parker helmet.  This helmet was originally placed on the auction block to raise funds for injured rider Scott Adams out of Oklahoma.  The winner has donated the helmet to the Class of ’79 and Friends to, again, help raise funds for injured riders.

Bidding is free for everyone who’s interested in signing up.  Simply visitwww.biddingowl.com  and create an account.  You can take part in the auction on your laptop, cell phone, or tablet.  Bidders can also keep up to date on items via text message if they’re outbid.

The auction is open now and items can be viewed by clicking here

Our two big ticket items will be available for viewing at select GNC events, the first being the Lima Half Mile on June 27th.  Jay Springsteen has requested that funds raised for his Clash of the Titans items be given to Jethro Halbert.  All other funds raised will go directly into our injured rider’s fund.

If interested in donating an item to be placed in the auction, please contact Charlie Roberts (217-899-1811, charlie@amaft79.com) or Tammi Richmond (269-986-0522.tammi@amaft79.com).  We will be accepting items right up to Labor Day weekend.

Thank you everyone for your continued support of our effort to help raise funds for our injured flat track riders!

INDIAN MOTORCYCLE TO SPONSOR INAUGURAL “VETERANS CHARITY RIDE TO STURGIS”

America’s first motorcycle company makes epic ride to 75th Rally possible for disabled U.S. military veterans

sidecar-

MEDINA, Minn. June 19, 2015 Indian Motorcycle, America’s first motorcycle company, today announced its sponsorship of the “Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis.”  The ride, intended to raise support for severely wounded and injured veterans, will offer a group of former military service members the opportunity to ride to Sturgis, SD just in time for the rally’s 75th anniversary.

Indian Motorcycle recently announced a partnership with the USO, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing programs and live entertainment to the U.S. troops and their families worldwide, and today is expanding its commitment to those who served. In addition to sponsoring the ride, Indian Motorcycle is providing the service members with bikes to ride to Sturgis. Several of the Indian models have been outfitted with sidecars specially built and provided by Champion Sidecars to accommodate the riders who are unable to operate a motorcycle themselves due to multiple traumatic amputations.

“In the same way we are inspired by the courageous and selfless commitment these men and women made defending our country, we are honored to help each of them achieve their dream of riding to Sturgis on an Indian Motorcycle,” said Scott Meek, marketing director for Indian Motorcycle.

More than a dozen veterans, from various military branches and of varying ages, will start their weeklong journey to Sturgis from Los Angeles.  The trip will be filled with exciting locations and routes on their epic journey to the Black Hills Rally in Sturgis.

The group will spend six days riding spectacular scenic backroads and exploring some of America’s greatest national treasures including Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Capital Reef National Park, The Arches and Moab, Utah. From Utah the group will continue their journey through the Colorado National Monument, Hahn’s Peak Colorado and Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming, arriving in Sturgis on Sunday, August 2.

At the rally, they will enjoy the ultimate Sturgis experience. America’s First Motorcycle Company takes special pride in its long-standing relationship with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which was started by Indian Motorcycle dealer “Pappy” Hoel in 1938. The riders will be treated to several activities sponsored by Indian and its partners, including participation in the Buffalo Chip’s “Freedom Ride” on Thursday, August 6 along with 600 fellow veterans.

Indian Motorcycle has partnered with Emmy award-winning Director Robert Manciero and his production company, Full Vision Productions, to create this adventure and film the entire journey. “We are honored to be putting on this event and campaign in support of Indian Motorcycle and the service members who have given so much for our country. We have created a fantastic, weeklong ride with activities and excursions planned along the route in addition to chef-prepared special meals and visits with other veterans and organizations,” said Manciero.

“Attending the Sturgis Bike Rally has been on my bucket list for many years, but riding to the 75th anniversary with my fellow veterans on an motorcycle is a dream come true,” said Los Angeles-based Jorge Hernandez, a veteran Marine with 12 years of service, two Purple Hearts and four deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Full Vision Productions has created a unique, interactive media platform to chronicle the epic ride. It will enable fellow veterans, motorcycle enthusiasts and other supporters to follow the riders and campaign in real-time, interacting with them via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and watching daily videos of their journey. Riders who are on their way to Sturgis for the rally will find the itinerary for each day posted on the site should they wish to join the ride and support the riders on their once-in-a-lifetime journey. For more details about the campaign, videos and specifics of the route and excursions visit the Veterans Charity Ride official website at www.veteranscharityride.org.

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — On July 10-12 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days — the country’s grandest rally of old motorcycles and the people who love them — will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the American Motorcyclist Association Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum.

“The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum has been showcasing motorcycling’s greatest heroes for 25 years,” said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. “We’re proud of the work the museum accomplishes to shine a spotlight on motorcycling’s best and brightest. We invite the entire motorcycling community to join us this July for vintage racing, bike shows, seminars and more as we recognize all our Hall of Famers for their accomplishments.”

Tickets to AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days are available now to the general public throughwww.midohio.com. AMA members can get a special discount through June 5 by calling the AMA directly at (800) 262-5646. Kids 12 and under are admitted free with a paying adult.

The museum was founded in 1990 to provide a permanent home to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, which celebrates and preserves the rich tradition of motorcycling in America through the recognition of the sport’s greatest heroes. Proceeds from AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days are donated to the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization tasked with funding the operation of the museum and Hall of Fame activities.

A display at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days will highlight the evolution of the museum, including a look at exhibits from over the years, while various activities will support the museum’s current and future exhibits.

The museum has grown from a partition of the AMA’s old location in Westerville, Ohio, to a facility adjacent to the current AMA headquarters on its campus in Pickerington, Ohio. The top level showcases Hall of Fame members, with bikes and memorabilia dating to the beginning of the 20th Century. The lower level features both themed exhibits as well as many unique machines from the Hall of Fame’s permanent collection.

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is the home of the AMA Vintage Grand Championship, which includes road racing, motocross, hare scrambles, trials and dirt track. Another top attraction is North America’s largest motorcycle swap meet with parts, bikes and memorabilia from all eras. Bike shows bring out examples of some of history’s most beloved motorcycles, while stunt shows, such as the American Motor Drome Wall of Death, and demo rides of current production bikes keep attendees entertained. Informative seminars feature some of the country’s leading experts on numerous motorcycling topics.

It all adds up to one of motorcycling’s premier events. Learn more, see photos and read stories from past AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at www.amavintagemotorcycledays.com.
