Scottsdale, AZ (May 1, 2014) – Five-time land speed record holder, Valerie Thompson, and AMA Pro Daytona Sport Bike and Spanish CEV Championship racer, Melissa Paris will lead Scottsdale’s International Female Ride Day event – the world’s only synchronized women’s motorcycle “Just Ride” day – this Saturday, May 3, 2014.
Participating riders will meet at 9 a.m. at Go AZ Motorcycles in Scottsdale for registration and a light breakfast. Riders will hit the road at 10 a.m. and travel through the greater Phoenix area, stopping at the top of South Mountain for a group photo. The ride will culminate with a special lunch, hosted by Go AZ Motorcycles and Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale, with Thompson and Paris at The Farm at South Mountain.
“This will be my second year participating in International Female Ride Day, which is growing in popularity each year,” said Valerie Thompson. “Go AZ Motorcycles has been a long-time sponsor of my land speed racing team, so it’s very gratifying to celebrate this worldwide event with them.”

International Female Ride Day Background
International Female Ride Day© is a campaign for women motorcyclists with the purpose of highlighting and profiling the female motorcycle and scooter rider. Its mission is that of building and underlining broad-spectrum (and public) awareness of female motorcyclists of every culture around the world, while simultaneously encouraging other women to take up the hobby by demonstrating the ease of the activity.
The event shines a spotlight on women motorcyclists by requesting one unified action – “JUST RIDE.” It’s a globally synchronized day for female motorcycle riders everywhere. A day emphasizing the many female’s who ride motorcycles; supporting their diversities, agelessness, limitless abilities and the enjoyment women embrace in the activity of motorcycling. Valerie Thompson Background
Valerie is a five-time land speed record holder and owner/driver of the Valerie Thompson Land Speed Racing Motorcycle Team who has also competed in the All Harley Drag Racing Association and National Hot Rod Association drag racing series. She set a personal best top speed of 212 mph on her CTEK sponsored BMW S 1000 RR during the March 2013 Texas Mile competition. Thompson is an official member of the BUB Speed Trials 201 MPH Club, the Mojave Magnum 200 MPH Club and Texas Mile 200 MPH Club.
