21 Podium finishes for Scott Settino and Team FTF Cycles / IronWorks Magazine Racing at the Loudon Road Race Series
October 5, 2013. Loudon, NH – FTF Cycles / IronWorks Magazine Racing and their sponsors have a lot to celebrate this season. With 60 year-old rider Scott Settino aboard his 2009 Harley-Davidson XR1200, the team has sailed to victory lane in nearly every event they’ve entered.
For 2013, the Loudon Road Race Series in Loudon, NH featured seven race weekends. Its 1.6 mile road course is home to Laconia’s famous Loudon Classic, North America’s oldest organized motorcycle race. Of twenty-one completed races within that series, Settino has fourteen 1st place wins, six 2nd place wins and one 3rd place win.
On Saturday the team competed in two events, taking a 1st place finish in the Formula 50 class giving Scott a top 5 points position for the season in that class followed by a 1st place finish in Lightweight Superbike giving him a top 10 points position for the season in that class. The team’s momentum carried right to the end, as Scott was able to set his personal best lap time of 1:19.89 in the final lap of his final race of the series.
“Even though we had a rough start, we couldn’t have asked for a better outcome”, said Crew Chief and FTF Cycles shop owner Dan Pike. “Our goal from the beginning was to prove that we could build a Harley worthy of competing against foreign race machines. We knew we could be competitive, but making it to the box for every race has far exceeded our expectations! We couldn’t be more pleased with the results!”
Overall, Scott and team FTF / IronWorks have earned a respectable place in the points for eight separate classes, having a top 5 points position for three novice classes and one amateur class as well as a top 10 points position for one novice class and three amateur classes.
A combination of perseverance and great sponsorship has really allowed this team to shine. Team FTF would like to thank their many great sponsors such as IronWorks Magazine, Amsoil, Brock’s Performance, Darkhorse Crankworks, EBC, Gilles Tooling, K&N, Race Tech, Shorai, Vance & Hines, Vanson Leathers, World Wide Bearings, Zipper’s Performance / ThunderMax, H&H Graphix and Pirtek of Avon, MA for their help in succeeding in the 2013 race season.
